Oh Jesus, Tom and Katie!
Mood:  irritated
What the hell is up with the universe this week?

Supposedly Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes are getting married. Oookkk? Great for them. Nasty to see the photos of them kissing.

Yet another image of Jesus appears in yet another ordinary item that some idiot is going to pay $293857928345 for.

Michael Jackson was set free to molest little boys again.

Canada is going through a wave of floods and fatal bear attacks.

California has had several earthquakes this week, spilling tsunami warnings from Mexico, up to Vancouver.

The world is spinning out of control man, and I'm sitting back watching everyone else go crazy.

Poor Brad Pitt....
Mood:  mischievious
Seriously, I feel sorry for Brad Pitt. I'm sure you're all thinking 'why?', but I really do. Besides all the recent, very invasive commotion over him and Jennifer Aniston, it's rumored that he'll be spending 2 months filming The Assasination of Jesse James in Alberta.

I have lived in both the places he is rumored to be filming at. The first rumored place is Calgary. It's a great city. People there are extremely nice, but they tend to vote more Conservative (the American equivalent is Republican) than Liberal (Democratic). It is a gorgeous, immaculate city, with a breathtaking backdrop of mountains. The Calgary nightlife is much better than rival Edmonton, but Edmonton has the better arts/festival scene. Calgary is more white collar, while Edmonton is the blue collar city. Edmonton has no spectacular views of mountains, but has a beautiful river valley (which Calgary has too). Edmonton is mainly flat, and, well....boring. Alberta just has a much slower pace than any major American city.

The little town he is rumored to be filming in is a place where I grew up. All I have to say is poor Brad...poor Brad. It's a little town of about 13,000-14,000 people, all mainly caucasian. This is a very conservative town, and that is the attitude many people here share. Anyone with a liberal view is considered 'weird/quirky', but usually they are just creative, artistic people with their own views of the world. Not that people here aren't friendly, because most people here are very nice, but I think many people here find it hard to accept things that are different, or are away from the norm. But being that Brad Pitt's famous, I'm sure people won't act like that around him. People in this town can be uh..fake.

But, I do hope he enjoys his time here. Like I said people are friendly. It's cool that you can walk your dog in the park and everyone says hi to you whether you know them or not. And I would hope that people here would have enough common sense to let him be.

Perfect Soldiers...
Mood:  not sure
I'm reading this book called 'Perfect Soldiers' about the 9/11 hijackers, their lives, and what led up to the attack. I'm not really shocked by any of the information in the book, but the book is powerful in the way that I feel that I understand in greater depth the 'passion' that fundamentalist Muslims have. I cannot say that I share that passion, but I think the book does an excellent job of portraying this.

I don't know. I guess I will never understand what fundamentalists feel, because I don't feel that anyone should be killed for religion, or to protect religion. I don't believe that God/Allah/Higher Power wants us killing each other. I mean look at the major religions in general, they all have the same basic principles to follow. We are more alike than we think no matter what religion we practice.

There are many things in life I don't understand, and at least I can say that there are things I won't understand...ever.

You know that saying...
Mood:  irritated
'The meek shall inherit the earth'? Well, I happen to be one of the meek who will inherit the earth, and you know what I think is gonna happen? All of us 'meek' people are just gonna get so pissed off one of these days from all you other people pushing us around that we are just gonna explode and kick some ass. Don't underestimate the power of silence.

People who I personally know that are quiet make 'ticks' on their inner chalkboard and tally up everything that has made them angry until they explode. They don't want to rock the boat, but it just builds and becomes more tense inside and it comes out exactly like it does in the cartoons - steam/smoke coming out of their ears, and the top of their head blows off. What it boils down to is that we don't like confrontation and don't like to 'rock the boat'. In a way, as much as I dislike people who are very upfront (in a mean, not tactful way), I bet they suffer from extremely less stress than the meeks. I think in a way, that makes us more likely to inherit the earth, because we don't get angry often, but when we do, it only takes something minor to unleash all the inner 'tallying ticks'.

But yeah, I was just thinking about this today because someone told me that not speaking up is a sign of weakness, but in some ways it isn't. So, I guess, next time you want to open your gob and say something mean, or offend someone, remember that it's possible that if they don't say anything back, they are processing it, and putting a tick on their chalkboard.
